The Garden Is Waking Up — Join Us This Saturday

The growing season has officially begun at the Wesley Church Community Garden, and the transformation is already underway. Over the past week, volunteers have been pulling early weeds, loosening the soil, and beginning the process of tilling the beds. We’ve started laying down garden paper and topping it with fresh mulch — small steps that set the stage for a thriving season of growing food for our neighbors.

This Saturday, May 16 (starting at 9 am until roughly 12 noon), we’ll be continuing the work during the church-wide Clean-Up Day, and we could truly use more hands. Whether you’ve gardened for years or just enjoy pitching in, your help makes a real difference.

How You Can Help This Saturday

  • Dispose old wood and trash — We’ll be clearing out debris from winter, loading old wood and trash into a cart or trailer, and taking it to the dumpsters.
  • Prepare the remaining beds — Several beds still need to be tilled, papered, and mulched so they’re ready for planting.
  • If time permits, we’ll be planting our new vegetable plants, too!

Every hour of help moves us closer to a garden that feeds, welcomes, and inspires our community.

If you’d like to join us — even for a short time — we’d love to have you alongside us as we prepare the garden for a season of growth and generosity.
